It is incredibly heartbreaking for us to announce that our 13th annual Runway fashion show will not be held on April 18th due to the COVID-19 outbreak. We would like to thank our sponsors, M&T Bank, Hyatt’s, Luke Copping Photography, Buffalo Spree Magazine, Renew Bath & Body and In Room Plus, for their continued support through this difficult time.
In regards to tickets that have been purchased, they can either be reimbursed or considered a donation to our fashion student scholarship. If you would like to make a donation at this time, purchase a "ticket" in the amount of $10, $15, $25, $50 and $100. All proceeds go to benefit our fashion student scholarship.
Student designers will continue to work on their collections remotely and will submit all garments to the FTT department by May 5th. In the fall semester, the Fashion Styling class will produce a “Live to Tape” Runway fashion show. Students will work with Marketing and Communication to release the show on Facebook & YouTube. In addition, one look from each senior designer will be featured in Runway’s 2021 show as an alumnus.
FTT Fashion Show Production and Senior Design students will embrace creativity during this unprecedented time - introducing the “Runway Diaries.” Fashion students will participate in the making of a mini-documentary that shares their experience going through this pandemic as a fashion student at Buffalo State. Each student will have a ‘voice’ as they document their creativity while producing fashion content remotely for social media.
A marketing campaign will be created that sparks the conversation about fashion. As part of the campaign, students will reach out to Kyung Hee University, Clothing & Textile Design program and ask for a video message from students who were supposed to visit from South Korea and participate in Runway. Our campus collaborations will also continue with the Art & Design department, featuring Graphic Design and Fibers student work.
This new format reflects our Runway Mission and continues to communicate a diverse and inclusive culture that showcases our students’ talent and creative vision.
The Runway Diaries will stream on Facebook & Instagram May 15th at 8pm.
